Company 5 was assigned to Matthew Talbot Road for a brush fire. 529 FF B. Russell arrived to find a 3-4 acre brush fire with one structure endangered and added second due Company 1. Brush 5 arrived and quickly protected the exposure while Tanker 5 established water supply. Company 12 Brookville was also added for manpower due to extensive overhaul. Units operated Brush 5 Brush 5A Tanker 5 Medic 14-5 Brush 1 and Attack 12.
Company 3 Boonsboro Company 2 Big Island Company 5 RIT Medic 14-5 County 10 were assigned to Trents Ferry Road for a barn on fire fully involved. Chief 5 Coleman arrived and established command with a 100×50 barn fully involved. Command declared this a defensive operation. Wagon 3 arrived and initiated attack along with Medic 14-5. Rescue 5 and Rescue 3 arrived and assisted with fire attack and overhaul removing tin from roof. Tanker 2 Tanker 3 and Tanker 5 established water supply. The fire was brought under control quickly with 3 lines in operation. Units cleared after overhaul was complete. Company 5 also responded to a MVC in the first due and a Structure Fire in Company 2 first due that was handled by the first due company. Company 5 was assigned to TEVA for a Commercial Fire Alarm. Chief 5 arrived to find a 300×200 commercial structure with nothing showing. Engine 5 arrived and investigated on the interior to find a haze in the building and a burning electrical smell. Maintenance Staff advised a power surge caused a transfer switch to malfunction. Wagon 5 stood fast at the hydrant and Rescue 5 assisted Engine 5 on the interior. Units found that the surge caused an air compressor to burn up and found no extension. Structure was ventilated and all units returned. Units operating Engine 5 Wagon 5 Rescue 5 and Command 5.

Engine 5 with 6 was training on ice operations and arrived to find one outbuilding fully involved with 3 exposures being threatened. Captain Byrd established command and Engine 5s nozzleman and backup stretched a line as Attack Group 1. Engine 12-1 arrived and pulled a second line from Engine 5 to assist. pCompany 5 Company 1 Bedford Second Due and RIT Squad 6 Medic 14-5 and County 10 were assigned to 1567 Prophet Road for smoke detectors going off in the residence with a smell of smoke. Medic 14-5 arrived first with nothing showing and found a light haze on the interior. Engine 5 arrived and established command. Investigation groups on the interior found a malfunctioning HVAC system to be the source and advised homeowners to have the system checked. pFrigid Temperatures kept compaines busy across Bedford County and Company 5 was no different with 5 runs. The day started around 1300 when Engine 5 assisted Medic 14-5 and County 10 with a CPR in progress on Groveland Dr. Units regained a pulse on the patientnbspand Engine 5 supplied a driver for Medic 14-5. While returning from this call Company 1 Bedford special called Company 5 for manpower for a working fire on Union Church Road. Rescue 5 with 4 and Tanker 5 with 1 responded Rescue 5 assisted units from Company 1 9 Montvale and 13 Stewartsville with fire attack search and salvageoverhaul while Tanker 5 assisted with water supply. While units operated on this fire Engine 5 and Command 5 responded to a fire alarm on Goode Road. Shortly after clearing the fire Tanker 5 along with Engine 5 responded to Bedford Memorial Hospital for Company 1 for a water flow alarmnbspas they were still tied up on the Union Church Road fire. Engine 5 responded with 4 andnbspon arrival found heavy fire showing from Division 1 and 2 AD corner extending to the attic of a multi family wood frame apartment building housing 8 apartments. E5s Nozzle man and Back up began stretching in on Div. 2 for a quick stop of the attic and bulk of thenbspfire while E5snbspofficer and another member started the primary search. The attack group knocked fire down on Div. 2 and Div.1 thennbspquickly checking side D knocking fire down on the exteriornbspbefore moving back to the attic to check for extension. W5 arrived laid in and took Div. 1. All searches were negative and fire was brought under control within 25nbspminutes. A request was made for a LaddernbspCo. bringing LFD T-2 whichnbsp alsonbspadded E7 E3. Ladder 1 was also responding with Rescue 3.
