Structure Fire on Blue Heron Circle

 June 24, 2015

At 07:20 Companies 5,3,1,M145,Sq5, & CNTY 10 were assigned to a report of a structure fire. Medic 145 & Chief 5 arrived to find a two story wood frame with heavy fire showing from A/B corner. On the arrival of E51 they stretched a 2 1/2 to the B side and knocked the garage with a burning car down while M145 and members of E5 made the push on division 2, Ladder 1 performed a primary search of Division 1, 2 one member fell through the floor landing on the hood of the car in the garage, he was not injured, a 2nd alarm was transmitted at 07:50 to bring more manpower to location. The stop kept the fire to the original area with heat and smoke damage through the home. There were 43.firefighters operating not including the 2 staffed a medic units on scene. 1st Alarm units E51,E5,R5,C5,W3,L1,M145,M53,CNTY 10, 2nd Alarm Units LFD E7,T2,M7,BC2,RE12,CNTY 4, also BCoFR Fire Marshal’s are investing.

Working Fire London Downs Dr

 June 16, 2015

Co.5, Co. 12 (Brookville Timberlake) & Co. 1 as RIT were assigned for a structure fire at the above location. Chief 5 Coleman arrived to find heavy fire showing from the Alpha side basement widows and fire venting out the Delta side and the entire Charlie side involved. The first stretch was to the windows and knock the basement and Charlie side, with rapidly change fire conditions Command had Tower 5 beach themselves in the side yard and place the Tower in service and begin operations. Command also advised Ladder 1 to place its aerial in air and prepare for operations also. Large volumes of fire were knocked down by Tower 5 and the deck gun from Rescue Engine 12. One the bulk was knocked crews placed handling in operation and began mopping it up. The last unit cleared shortly before 2am. Great work by all units special thanks to the BTVFD Auxiliary, Units assigned were C5, E51,E5,TL-5,R5,RE12,L12,C12,L1,CNTY 1,10,16,1603,M53

Bedford County Fire and Rescue Awards 2015

 June 11, 2015

Tonight members from Company 5 were big winners this evening. We had several members receive awards and recognition for completing Firefighter I, Special Operations Coomand Technical Rescue School, part of the 2015 Call of the Year, (Rescue 5.operating with SOC on Sharp Top Mtn Rescue) also the 2015 Lifesaving Award of Merit for removing a civilian from the second story of an apartment fire. We would like to congratulate all of our members and also all of those in the BCoFR family that received awards this evening.

Tower 5

20150518071453-70419-2On May 16th Tower 5 arrived at Station 51, the formally known Tower 582 served the Syosset Fire Company, Long Island NY. As we now start the process of training the members on the use of the Tower. This project was a joint project with Bedford County Fire and Rescue and Company 5.

Benefit Dance for Captain Starnes

There will be a benefit Dance for Captain Starnes on April 11th at the Forest Rec Center on Rustic Village Road off of Thomas Jefferson Road. Sam Austin and Silverline will be playing the event. $25 per couple and $15 for singles. This is a 21 and over event and is BYOB. For more info please call 434-941-7558.

Lacrosse Fundraiser Event for Captain Starnes

 March 3, 2015

The Jefferson Forest Girls Lacrosse Team will be doing a “Lacrosse against Leukemia” fundraiser for Captain Starnes.

The event/games will be held March 28 along with 2 other teams in a round robin format. A bake sale will take place as well.

They are selling event shirts. The shirts will be black with orange print, as pictured in the attachment. Shirts will be prepay only and will run $10 for sizes Small-XL and $13 for 2XL and 3XL.

Brunswick Stew this Weekend

Due to the impending weather, stew will be available on Saturday & Sunday from 2-4PM as supply lasts. If you have pre-ordered stew it needs to be picked up on Saturday from 2-4PM. Due to the overwhelming demand, an additional Brunswick Stew will be held to benefit Captain Starnes and his family. The stew will be available starting at 2PM Saturday February 21 and available until 5PM or when it sells out. Brunswick Stew and Bake Sale Fundraiser for Captain Starnes

The FVFD Ladies Auxiliary along with a local Home Schooling group is holding a Brunswick Stew and Bake Sale on Saturday January 24th. 100% of all the proceeds will be going to Joel and his family. As always stew will be $8 a quart and will be available from 2-6pm at the firehouse. Pre-orders are strongly encouraged and can be done by calling 434-660-6006.
