3 runs for Engine 5

Engine 5 started the evening with a pt unresponsive with Medic 14-5.  While Engine 5 was returning to quaters a structure fire was distapched brining Company 2 (1st due), Company 3 (2nd due), Rescue 5 (RIT), Squad 2, 3 and County 10. Engine responded with 4 members due to already being out. Engine 5 was first arriving to find a two-story single family home with nothing showing. Engine 5’s OIC and FF took interior to investigate, while Engine 5 chauferr ladder the building. Engine 2 arrived next and took command. Engine 5 crew advised fire was contained to the chimney and would need a fan on B-side. Crews cleared within a hour. Units operating Engine 5, Engine 2, Engine 3, Tanker 2, Tanker 5, Rescue 5, Rescue 3 and Command 5. Soon as Engine 5 marked in quaters they were assigned with Medic 14-5 for unresponive not breathing. Engine 5 and 14-5 were able to re-gain a pulse and pt was transported to LGH.

2nd Due Brush Fire

 February 20, 2017

Company 3 and Company 5 were assigned to 1329 Coolridge Drive around 3pm for a brush fire. Command 5 (Chief 5) arrived first to find a acre plus brush fire in a field and in the woods. Chief 5 advised brush 3 to attack the fire in the field and advised Brush 5 to stop on Hawkins Mill rd. Brush 5 arrived and pulled a booster line into the woods to cut the fire off. Brush 5a arrived and also pulled a line to the left flank of fire. Fire was under control within 25 minutes. Engine 51 arrived and set up water supply for brush 5 and 5a. Wagon 3 set up water supply for Brush 3. All units cleared within a hour and half. Units opertaing Brush 5, Brush 5a, Command 5, Engine 51, U5, Brush 3, Brush 3a and Wagon 3

Windy Monday Morning

 February 13, 2017

Company 5 started off the morning operating in Company 2’s first due. Company 2 was assigned to Waugh Switch Road for a brush fire. Brush 2 arrived to find a large fire in the woods. Brush 2 requested Company’s 3 and 5 for brush trucks and tankers. Brush 5a and Tanker 5 responded and assisted with fire attack and putting lines around the fire. Fire was estimated at 15 acres. Units operating B2, B2A, B5A, B3, B3A T2, T5, U2, Tractor 14, County 14

Second fire came in around 0430 in the first due for a report of large brush fire. With company 5 still operating in Company 2 fire, Company 1 and Lynchburg City was called for help. Command 5 and Engine 51 arried to find appx. 25 to 40 acres on fire. Chief 5 requested Company 8, Brookville-Timberlake, Lyd-Heights for brush trucks. The VA Dept. of Forestry was contacted for a dozer and a crew. LFD assigned there wildland team to the fire. The fire was marked under control after 3 hours. The fire was under control at 35 acres. Units operating B5A, B1, B8, B15, B12, T5, C5, E51, E7, U5.

Busy Monday with 7 runs

 February 9, 2017

The day started around 0700 for MVC with injuries. Engine 5 and Medic 14-5 arrived to find a pick-up overturned with ejection. 14-5 and Engine 5 took patient care. Medic 14-5 transported to LGH, Engine 5 turned scene over to VSP. The next run came in around 0900 for a first due reported house fire. Engine 51 arrived to find a 1 1/2 story wood frame single family home with light smoke showing side a. Engine 51 located a hot water tank manlfuntion on the first floor. Commad made it a can handle for Engine 51, Engine 5, Command 5 and Medic 14-5. Next run came in around 1200 to assisted Company 1 (Bedford) for a 3 car MVC with a double entranpment. Rescue 5 responded with 5. Rescue 5 arrived and on the orders of command went to work on a tahoe with door removal. Then Rescue 5 assisted Rescue 1 with a roof removal and side wall removal. Units operating Rescue 5, Rescue 1, Engine 1, Command 5, U1, Medic 14-1,14-2, and 14-5. All units cleared with no further incident. The afternoon continued when Engine 51 was on the area and responded to assist Medic 14-5 with a medical. The evening took the Company to two small brush fires.

Last run of day: Company 5 first due, Ladder 1 RIT, Engine 7 (LFD) second due, Squad 5, Medic 14-1 were assigned to Woodberry lane for Res. house. Command 5 arrived to find a 3 story single family home with reports of smoke on 3rd floor. Chief 5 advised 51 Engine to stretch on arrival. Engine 51 arrived and stretched a line to side a. Engine 5 took water supply and Tower 5 performed search and laddered the building. Engine 51 crew located a fire in the HAVC unit in the attic. 51 contained the fire to HAVC unit. Units operating Engine 51, Engine 5, Tower 5, Command 5, LFD Engine 7, Ladder 1, Medic 14-1, County 10. All units cleared with no further incident.

Our Great Community &.High School

 September 11, 2015

As we finish up a busy day we attended the local town event, High School Football game tonight our community stopped before the game and paid respect to those that lost their lives on this tragic day 14 years ago. They took time to remember how great our country is by moment of silence, patriotic music. They dedicated their new flag poles in honor of all first responders those that paid the ultimate price and lost their life serving those we have sworn to protect, and those serving today. We thank you for continuing to support us.

These flags were presented in the honor of those that perished in the cowardly terrorist attacks 14 years ago on our great country. We will honor each victim, each time these special flags are flown. Forest Rd HVAC Fire

FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Awarded

 June 24, 2015

We are please to announce that we have been awarded $167,000.00 to replace our aging SCBA’s. We will be upgrading our Scott Health & Safety Air Paks to the X3 4500 psi Paks, we will receive 26 Paks, 26 Spare cylinders and new mask. The X3’s have been ordered as of this afternoon, delivering will be within the next 6-8 weeks.
