1/24/18 Engine 5 & Command 5 responded to this head on accident with 2 injuries, we used to Medic Units Medic 14-5 and Medic 7-4 the accident was located in the 5500 Block of New London Road.
Brush Fire on Charlemont Road
1/20/2018 Units responded to Charlemont Road deep into our first due area for a Brush Fire, C5 arrived to find a fire burning into the tree line which was controlled quickly by Brush 5 & 5A Tanker 5 provided water supply. While crews were handling this Engine 51 responded 4th due to a working fire in Bedford’s first due. The Brush assignment was heading back to the station and was dispatched to Blue Ridge Ave for Apartment Fire adding Tower 5 & Engine 51 and Chief 5.
Ivy Crest Ln Structure Fire
January 20, 2018 Company 5 & Company 1 (Bedford) responded to Ivy Crest Lane for reports of Fire coming from the roof. Engine 51 arrived to find a 2 Story log cabin with heavy smoke showing. The began stretching to Division 2, they had extreme high heat and zero visibility crews got water on the fire, while Tower 5 completed search which was negative and threw Ladders and opened up the roof to provide much needed ventilation. E5 secure the second line and Tanker 5 supplied water being no hydrants in the area. Ladder 1 provided 2nd aerial and completed secondary search. Fire is under investigation by BCoFR Fire Marshall.
ICE Rescue New London Rd
Rescue 5, Engine 5 & Special Operations Command were assigned to a report of female stuck on a frozen pond in the 5500 block of New London Rd. Chief 5 arrived to find a female 30 ft from shore in middle of the lake. Rescue 5 arrived and units made entry into the Lake using ICE Suits and rope. Engine 5 provide manpower on hauling back to shore, Medic 14-1 was assigned to Medical and Rescue 1 assumed the 2 back up (RIT) swimmers. The teenager was removed by rescuers and checked by Medic 14-1 and was released back to family.
Vehicle Fire Deer Run
1/17/2018 E51 & E5 responded to Deer Run Dr in Lake Vista just after 03:00 for reports of several vehicles on fire. Engine 51 arrived to find one pick up truck heavily involved, E51 Nozzleman & Back up went to work knocking fire. The fire was under control in about 10 Minutes.
Working Fire Elk Ridge Dr, First Due
1/15/18 at 1430 units were assigned to Elk Ridge Dr for a Structure Fire, E51 arrived 3 minutes after dispatch to find fire showing from the D side of the 2nd floor and attic. E51 stretched and began fire attack, Tower 5 arrived and provided primary search which was negative and began opening up for the Engine, they also secured ladders to all sides. E5 provided water supply due to no hydrants on the street. Ladder provided assistance with salvage and RIT. Units assigned were, E51,TL5,E5,L1,R5,Medic 14-5 and Chief 5.
Working Fire Saratoga Dr Campbell County
1/6/18 Company was assigned to Saratoga Drive in Campbell County for a Structure fire, Chief 12 arrived and found a 2 story with fire showing from the B/C corner. Chief 5 arrived and crews were assigned to Div 2 attack with E12, Crews from 5 provided a primary search that was negative and located the fire. E5 arrived and secured water supply and provided 2nd attack line. Tower 5 would arrive and get ladders thrown and force the basement door. Units assigned were; E12,L12,E5,TL5,C12, & Chief 5.
2nd Working Fire of the Day Turkey Foot Road
2nd working fire within 2 hours, Chief 5 arrived with E51 and Ladder 1 to find a 2 story vacant wood frame with heavy fire showing, crews set up for a defensive attack after primary search was completed. Crews stretched a 2” and 1.75 along with ladder pipe. Units assigned were; E51,E5,E12,W1,L1,TL5, T5, t1, and Chief 5

6 Run Evening
Company 5 started the day out yesterday around 230 pm. Company 5, Squad 5, Medic 14-5 were assigned to Perrowville Road for a MVC with unknown injuries. While Engine 5 and Rescue 5 were responding they were updated that they had a single car MVC with entrapment and car is on fire. Engine 5 arrived to find a car fully engulfed with one pt who was pulled out by civilian. Engine 5 and Rescue 5 went to work knocking down the car and brush fire. Medic 14-5 transported one critical patient to LGH who was transferred to UVA. When Rescue 5 was clearing they were assigned to a Medic Local. When clearing that run Rescue 5 and U5 were assigned to a MVC with no injuries but fluids leaking. Once all crews were back in the U5 was assigned to another Medical local. Command 5 assisted with another Medical Local across from Station. Engine 5 took in another MVC with one minor injury. All within 3 hours.
Heavy Entrapment
Company 5, Squad 6, Medic 14-5, County 10 were assigned to Forest Road and Glidden circle for a MVC with double entrapment. Engine 5 arrived to find a three car head-on crash with triple entrapment. Due to triple entrapment Rescue 1 was added for additional help. Rescue 5 and Engine 5 went to work on extracting two victim’s. The third entrapment was confirmed a doa. Brush 5 est. as LZ for Two helo’s. Centra 1 and Lifeguard 10 flew two patients to RMH. Rescue 5 and Rescue 1 worked for 45 minutes to free last patient. All units cleared in 3 hours.
1st Due Working Fire
Company 5, Company 1, Squad 5, Medic 14-1, Medic 14-5 were assigned to 460 and Goode road for a building on fire. Command 5 arrived to find a single story building with heavy smoke showing from roof. Wagon 1 and Engine 51 assumed fire attack and knocked down the fire on Division 1 and attic. Tower 5 was assigned to the roof and cut a vent hole. Units operated for 3 hours. Units assigned Engine 51, Wagon 1, Rescue 5, Tower 5, Ladder 1, Command 5, Medic 14-1, 14-5, 5-5, County 1, County 16, County 10.
MVC with Entrapment
Company 5, Squad 5, Medic 14-5 were assigned to Enterprise Dr and Homestead for a 3 car MVC with injuries. Engine 5 and Medic 14-5 arrived to find a 3 car MVC with triple entrapment. Engine 5 stretched it’s front bumper line. Rescue 5 went to work on removing the roof of the car. Extraction was completed within 30 mins. Units operating were E5, R5, Medic 14-5, 5-5 and Ems 5.
1st Due Apartment Fire
Company 5, Company 12 (BVTFD), Company 1, Medic 14-5, 14-2 and County 10 were assigned to 5485 Waterlick road for a reported apartment full of smoke. Engine 51 arrived first to find a two story apartment complex with smoke showing from the a side and the eves. Engine 51 stretched to the second floor while 51 Chauffeur secured water supply, ladder the building. 51 Officer and Nozzleman located fire on Division 2 in a bedroom. Tower 5 arrived and began searches on the second floor. Engine 12-1 was assigned to search the first floor. 51 and Tower 5 removed 3 dogs from second floor. Fire was contained to bedroom and small extension into attic. All units cleared within 2 hours. Units operating E51, E12-1, Tower 5, Ladder 1, Command 5, Medic 14-1, 14-2, County 1 and 10.
Working Fire and Chimney Fire morning
Company 5 (1st due), Brookville-Timberlake (2nd due), Ladder 1 (RIT), Medic 14-5, Medic 14-1, County 10 were assigned to Switch street for a fire in the attic of a home. Command 5 arrived to find a double wide trailer with heavy smoke showing from the roof. Engine 51 arrived and assumed fire attack. 51 crew found fire in attack and made a quick knockdown and held the fire to place of orgin. Rescue 5 performed search’s with proved negative. All units operated for 2 hours. Units operating Engine 51, Tanker 5, Rescue 5, Command 5, Ladder 1, 14-5, 14-1, County 10.
Second run came for Company 3 (1st due), Company 5 (2nd due), Ladder 1 (RIT), Medic 14-5, County 10 for a chimney fire. Engine 3 arrived to find a two story single family home with smoke showing from chimney. Tower 5 arrived and throw the stick to the roof. Engine 5 assisted with basement division. Crews held the fire to chimney and operated for hour and 30 mins. Units operating Engine 5, Tower 5, Tanker 5, Engine 3, Ladder 1 and 14-5.
